Affiliated with Holy Cross Hospital in Silver Spring, Maryland Interventional Radiologists specialize in imaging guided procedures. Our Interventional Radiologists are sub-specialty trained in Interventional Radiology by the American Board of Radiology.
Maryland Interventional Radiologists are highly trained and skilled physicians who use minimally invasive procedures along with real-time imaging to diagnose and treat various conditions. These procedures are performed through a tiny incision, often the size of the tip of a pen, through which small wires, catheters and other instuments may be passed under x-ray guidance to the area of interest.
Interventional Radiology (IR) procedures are alternatives to more invasive surgical procedures. Since most (IR) procedures require only local anesthesia and light sedation the patient is often allowed to go home the same day or the day after the procedure and resume noraml activities much faster than with conventional surgery.
